Pictures resurfacing
an unease in disclosure
black and white
teared and attached
together
shaking and weeping
sobs echoing
reverberating
through glass windows
as she sat there
sprawled and scattered
what will become
of all these distant memories?
hollowed and tainted
damaged and frail
she is now squinting
puffy green eyes
now glowing with humor
there her grandma is
underneath the plastic protective cover
dressed like royalty
wearing a tender grin
and she knew
once upon a time long ago
these memories
defined wholesomeness
now stored as antiquity
for all to gaze at.

Funny how our memories get caught under glass or in acid free boxes and the lucky ones in lockets close to our hearts.

that is funny you said that darkangel because i actually was considering making lockets out of pictures of people who i held/hold closest to my heart

The love between you and your grandmother is unmistakable. She must have been quite a lady for you to be able to write something from such deep and loving emotions. I love how you loved her. Yes, this is a beautiful tribute to your grandmother and, I’m sure it’s made her smile.

strong close in this poem…it really just reinforces how strongly you miss her, and love her. Love your descriptors- the way you see your grandmother as well… heightens the emotion so well, particularly when you talk about her eyes being full of humour. Nice work Chanzi- stu mcp
