Oh what a fragile adolescent I was
As I look back and reminisce
At once was and what could have been
I start to regress and sob
You were always there for me
The vessel to my tears
My secret knight
A man older in wisdom
And age
One day I cracked
My weakness was what broke us
Apart
Forever
I wasn’t able to handle the depth
Of us
The adult verses
The youngster
I watch you from afar
As I did the first time our eyes met
Only now you are drifting away
Into your grey future

This is such a great picture isn’t it. It does make you think the girl is looking either to the future or to a different time. well done.

you captured the fragility of this time of life well with all the wrong decisions we may make and afterwards know better…

To me the picture spoke of introspection. Your poem captures the mood excellently. A most enjoyable read.

nice…love that it is the future that is pulling away as it adds great depth to this…the edge to the adult and child relationship creeped me a bit but….

i remember this one..i think before i was thinking of some illicit relationship between an adult and child…i can see it through different eyes now and it does carry a sadness at the separation from one to whom there are obviously deep feelings….

looking back it can be an illicit relationship to some but to me…it was an intense one that got my excited to live
