Rummaging through my past
The Heartbreak is vast
Rummicub
And stomach rumbles
We sat through fourth period
Starving and huddled
Exams and family politics
Ticks and tocks
Kept resetting my Alarm clock
Rum in his drink
He liked it whiskey neat
Smoothe like a Firebolt
He liked uninhibited folk
“Conjure” with them
Yes its pronounced as such
I rehearsed my whole monologue
And he didnt care much
Drums and rum
Rum and drums
Practice for the drama
I have my own
But I seem nice like a Llama
Cold exterior
Fire below
I need to just jump out this window
Snow and rain
But all I feel is the pain
Canucks and candy
Everything was dandy
Until we met
I was his little pet
Play with me here
Touch me right there
I sat on your lap
We gave eachother a heart attack

There’s an interesting contrast between the playful wordplay and the heavier emotional moments. That tension kept me engaged, and by the end the poem carried more weight than I expected. well done my friend!! 💜

Nice poem but not really tied to the prompt of 44 words including the word puff
